Join us for this relaxed, on-farm moring experience where Beth will share a favorite recipe from her cookbook Perennial Kitchen: Simple Ingredients for a Heathy Future and talk about honoring the origins of our food, regenerative efforts to heal the soil, and ways we can utilize thoughtfully grown & raised ingredients as a way to nurture our selves, and the planet.

11:20 am - Foraged Foods Cooking Demo w/ Candace Stock: Join local Indigenous Chef Candace Stock as she creates a tasty & nutritious meal from ingredients foraged on the farm! Her expertise in the field and the kitchen are sure to impress - and leave you with practical + delicious tips for you to nurture your family & friends at the dinner table.
12:50 pm - Farm-2-School: Sharing & Sampling: F-2-S champion Shannon Nowak and Director of School Nutrition for Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Public Schools offers insight into working with local producers and staff to source local ingredients for the D-G-F school lunch program.
1:30 pm - Sourcing Locally Panel: Bjorn Solberg of Hugh’s Gardens hosts a discussion on the opportunities for local schools, chefs, and farmers to work together to strengthen our local food economy.
2:15 pm - Mulching Demo: Lonnie and Sandy Deitz of Whitewater Gardens Farms are certified organic farmers, utilizing regenerative methods of growing and stewardship of the land, encouraging “life in the soil to grow healthy, nutritious veggies for our community.”

Melany raises certified organic small grains and row crops in northwestern Minnesota near the town of Felton. She is an amazing mom to their young daughter and a beginning farmer, now in her fifth year. Melany is a member of Minnesota Farmers Union and serves in several leadership roles, including Secretary and Treasurer of Clay County Farmers Union, and Vice Chair of the Member Advisory Committee. She is also a graduate of MFU’s New Leadership Academy. She served on the MFU Policy Committee in 2021 and NFU Policy Committee in 2022, and returned in 2023 to chair the committee.
